Simpson Motors celebrates 40 years in the business
CELEBRATIONS are in high gear this month at local vehicle dealership, Simpson Motors, as the company marks its 40th year of operation in Barbados.
To kick off celebrations, the company recently hosted a special event for staff to thank them for their dedication and hard work over the years. The highlight of the evening came when longstanding employee, Wesley Straker, who also celebrates 40 years with the company, got the surprise of his life – a brand new Suzuki Celerio vehicle.
A speechless and emotional Straker watched in disbelief as the vehicle was lowered into the crowd by crane: “This is something that I never expected. It really caught me by surprise. I really want to say thank you to Sir Kyffin and the rest of the staff for putting up with me for all these years and for this gift.”
Simpson Motor’s chief executive officer, Debbie Simpson, speaking on behalf of founder of the company, Sir Kyffin Simpson, said: “This is a very special occasion - the company is celebrating 40 years and Wesley is celebrating 40 years with us as well - a most amazing and unique event. So ‘Strakes’- this is from the boss and from all of us. We love you,” Simpson said to the loud applause of approval.
This presentation followed a number of tributes to the company by other long standing staff members including Trevor Wood, Wayne Edwards, Peter Simmons, Peter Boyce and Garry Clarke.
