Jamaican SOS Village Children Have a Day of Surf
Saturday was an unforgettable day for thirty Jamaican SOS Village children as they got to meet and surf with the Caribbean's leading professional surfer and Suzuki Caribbean Brand Ambassador, Chelsea Tuach. The SOS Children's Village offers orphaned and abandoned children a permanent home and prepares them for independent life. The event, which was organised by Suzuki Caribbean and Jamaican Suzuki Dealer Stewart’s Auto Sales, took part at the Longboarder Bar and Grill in conjunction with the Jamaican Surfing Association. The day’s activities brought smiles to the faces of the children as they learned to surf with Chelsea and other local surf instructors, did rock painting and roasted hot dogs on the beach.
"On Saturday, my love for surfing grew even more. Paddling out with the children and seeing the joy on their faces as they caught their first wave was an incredible experience, one I will never forget. I just want to thank Suzuki Caribbean and Stewart’s Auto Sales for making this event possible. I feel very proud to represent such an amazing and caring brand," Chelsea said on departing Jamaica.
“Excellent. It was very good. The children enjoyed themselves and loved the surfing. It was a well spent day.” Said one of the home’s representatives.
Suzuki Caribbean’s Simon Willis added “Judging by the children’s smiles and laughter, today was a great success! Way of Life! is Suzuki’s philosophy- today the children embodied this as they embraced and enjoyed new experiences with Chelsea and the team. It was a pleasure to work with these wonderful children.”
Chelsea will be travelling to Australia next week for a series of World Surf League Qualification Series and World Championship Tour events. She will be accompanied by world class coach, Jim Hogan, as she competes against the best female professional surfers in the world and seeks to bring glory to her country and her sponsors.
