Suzuki Clean-Up The World Campaign a Success in Barbados

On May 15th 2022, 14 members from Fisherman’s Corner, the Suzuki Marine Dealer and Interamericana Trading Corporation went to the beach. This was no typical sunbathing and swimming daytrip though – it was about cleaning up the garbage littering the beach, making it a better place for everyone and reducing the harm to marine life.
That morning, the volunteers ventured to East Coast, St. Andrew in Barbados to clean up the beach, as part of Suzuki’s Global Clean Ocean Project. Over the course of the day, the team successfully gathered and removed 590kg of garbage from surrounding areas. That’s about two-thirds the weight of a Suzuki Ignis!
Garbage on the beach doesn’t just make it untidy and unpleasant for beachgoers. It can seriously threaten marine life, coral reefs, and human health. While cleaning up, the Suzuki Team also met beachgoers to raise awareness of the dangers of plastic to marine life.
Suzuki’s Global Clean Ocean Project has run programmes since 2011, with the 14 people from Suzuki in Barbados joining over 8,000 people worldwide who have contributed to date. The Project encourages events like the St. Andrew beach clean-up worldwide and seeks to reduce plastic packaging and reduce the harm from marine micro-plastic waste.
