What is the Suzuki SHVS System?

A Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (or SHVS) model is a hybrid engine system that focuses on directly improving fuel efficiency as opposed to enabling fully electric driving. How Does SHVS Work?

This system takes a few steps to conserve energy as you drive, including:
  • An idle stop-start system, which causes the engine to automatically shut off when at a red light and seamlessly starts back up when you release the clutch or press the accelerator.
  • Regenerative braking, which turns the energy used for stopping the vehicle into electricity to recharge the battery.
  • An Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which provides additional torque to the engine that reduces stress on the engine and fuel consumption when you speed up.
  • A dual battery system, including a lithium-ion battery that plays a crucial role in regenerative braking.
